OK, so this past Christmas my family thought they would focus on getting me the stuff that I need to chase my dream of being an MMA champion.

My dad got me a pair of 16 oz Everlast boxing gloves – bright white so blood would show up easy on them.

My sister got me the ugliest singlet that has ever been made and to make matters worse, it is too small (gives me a wedgie and separates the boysat the same time)

My brother got me a cup big enough to serve soup out of – I thanked him for thinking I would need all the room, and then he told me it was the only size that Value Village had. Nothing says merry Christmas like a used cup.

The best came from my mom. She got me a goalie mask, because she was worried that someone might mess up my pretty face.

Next year, I’m hoping that I get a new family one that has a clue about my life.

The good news is, this did give me the chance to sit them down and tell them what MMA fighters wear, and why they wear it.

Gloves are an integral part of the MMA fighters attire, but they cant just be regular boxing gloves. They need to be the right balance of support and protection for your fingers if you want to be able to grapple and apply submission holds.

Shorts not a singlet, not a speedo, and definitely not Daisy Dukes – no one wants to see your ass.

A good mouth guard, you might want to be an MMA fighter but you don’t want to look like one.

A proper sized cup. Here, ego doesnt trump usability. If your cup doesnt fit right, you’re either going to feel it a very bad situation, or it will be so big that it restricts your movement. Every time you go to block, it will be right in there, robbing you of power and accuracy.

And the most important thing you can wear in the ring? Attitude mixed with ability. A shortage of either one will guarantee that you won’t have a long, or fun, career in the MMA.

And I just got a package from my grandma in Toronto. It looks like shes been shopping at the flea markets again, because the fancy new Affliction jersey is spelled wrong. Yay for team Infection. If you’d like to bet on the next big MMA fight, check out our guide on betting on mixed martial arts or check out the home page for the best MMA odds

I decided to watch the Boxing matches this weekend over UFC 107. As this is my first post, you may not know that I favor watch boxing over MMA in certain cases. If I’m hanging out at home by myself and paid for the fights, I’d prefer to watch boxing. For me boxing is more of a relaxing type sport to watch compared to the quick rush of MMA and UFC. Plus I Box, and don’t do MMA like Pat and Justin so it’s so much different watching MMA guys try to box, just strange.

I like both, don’t get me wrong but if you’re at a house with a bunch of people everyone is going to wanna watch MMA over Boxing, especially girls. I guess it’s the quick thrill whereas boxing, you generally know after the 3rd round who’s going to win the fight, that is if the judges aren’t smoking dope which they usually are.

Apparently I missed a solid card this weekend for UFC 107. Watching the clips put up on mmabettingblog the Kongo / Mir fight didn’t exactly last long. And WTF, they had to stop a fight because whatis face had a piece of tooth stuck in his mouth guard. Yikes man.

I didn’t get to watch the full main event BJ vs Sanchez but watched the final round. Pretty gruesome, talk about a blood bath. Same with Guida, my God I was happy when that fight got put out of its misery.

So I spent all afternoon watching boxing. I really wanted to watch Juan Diaz vs Paulie Malignaggi. Our home town boy Nate Campbell beat Juan and it was interesting to see if the judges F’d Paulie again this go around (it was a rematch). Paulie won unamiously like he should have the first go around.

Again was another fight with Timothy Bradley and Lamont Peterson. I was actually impressed with Bradley. He didn’t head butt the crap out of Peterson, maybe because they were friends growing up. Poor Nate man, can’t even get a rematch after that alien head of Bradley cut the crap out of him. It’s because of that match (Bradley vs Campbell) that they have instant replay if a stoppage occurs because of a butt or something like that.

What can I say about the heavy-weight fight of the day/night Vitali Klitschko vs whatever the hell his name was. That was the most god awful thing I’ve watched in a long time. It looked like they put two drunk ass bahemoths in the ring and let them try and box. It was the weirdest display of heavyweight boxing I’ve seen in a long time. Ah the days of Tyson (who said he might actually come back and fight after he made amends with Don King) and Holyfield etc. Those were the good old days, not this crap they call the heavy weight division.

All in all, a good weekend of fights.

Please pardon the dust as we settle into our new site, mmaodds.com. In the next few days things will begin to take form. This website has been months in creation and is finally about ready to go live to our readers!

Please pardon the dust as we settle into our new site, mmaodds.com. As you can see with our team we provide you with updated odds for the top online sportsbooks. Along with that will give you expert predictions by Pat on the events to help you on your way.

As more pages get added to the website I think you will be greatly excited about the content and predictions we create. Our sister site, mmabettingblog.com has become one of the leaders in the MMA world for predictions over the past couple years. Right now Pat V is our main author, Justin will be working on content and search marketing (his other website is gymjunkies.com) and I am the owner of MMAodds.com, doing the general stuff. Pat and Justin are the heart of the site.

We encourage a positive atmosphere here at MMAodds.com. In the world of fighting heated discussions can get going in blogs but let’s try to keep the death threats to a minimal.
