Strikeforce - Robbie Lawler vs. Matt Lindland Prediction 

MATT lINDLAND  vs. ROBBIE LAWLER

 

Fight Overview:  An interesting, old-school style vs. style match pitting Lawler's powerful striking against Lindland's dominant wrestling.  Lindland will be totally overmatched on the feet, and Lawler on the ground, so it is just a matter of which guy can impose his gameplan.

 

Lawler's Strengths:  Lawler has solid boxing with a ton of punching power and very quick hands. 

 

Lawler's Weaknesses:  He is going to be easily outwrestled by Lindland if he can't make him pay dearly for his shots.

 

Lindland's Strengths:  Lindland has some of the best wrestling in the history of Mixed Martial Arts, and fairly underrated submissions from top position.

 

Lindland's Weaknesses:  Lindland's standup is quite rudimentary and not very powerful, and his defense is porous.

 

The Verdict:  I think that, in general, wrestler vs. striker matchups tend to favor the wrestler.  I don't see this being the exception to the rule.  Even though Lawler actually has solid wrestling, it is nowhere near a match for Lindland's, and Lawler will find himself being smothered and peppered with shots.  Lindland by decision.
