Fight Overview: Two solid fighters go at it in the Heavyweight division as former IFL champ Ben Rothwell looks to get back in the win column against tough slugger Gilbert Yvel.
Rothwell’s Strengths: Rothwell is very large, has great reach, good punching, good wrestling, and underrated submissions.
Rothwell’s Weaknesses: He doesn’t always react to adversity very well, and he has been knocked out a few times in the past, which could be dangerous against a striker like Yvel.
Yvel’s Strengths: Yvel has great hands, great punching power, and great technique on the feet. His wrestling is also decent.
Yvel’s Weaknesses: He gives up a lot of size and wrestling ability to Rothwell.
The Verdict: While Yvel certainly has what it takes to put Rothwell to sleep, I think Big Ben has the edge here. His size and reach advantage, coupled with his better wrestling, should be enough to let him put Yvel on his back, where Yvel is not at all comfortable. From that position, expect Rothwell to throw his weight around and control Yvel, eventually laying on enough punishment for the TKO.
