TUF 13 Finale – Tim Credeur vs. Ed Herman Prediction

ED HERMAN vs. TIM CREDEUR

Fight Overview:  Two former Ultimate Fighter cast members go at it in the Middleweight division.  Herman is a great wrestler with underrated submissions and a bruising top game, but he has porous submission defense, something Credeur is well-positioned to exploit, and he is going to be outgunned in the striking, so this is a compelling matchup between two guys who both need a win.

Herman’s Strengths:  Herman has decent, heavy-handed boxing, very good takedowns, a good top control game, punishing ground and pound, and underrated submissions from top position.

Herman’s Weaknesses:  His striking is technically inferior to Credeur’s and he tends to leave himself too open to submissions in top position.

Credeur’s Strengths:  Credeur has very good technical striking with good power, great submissions from every position, and is a prolific finisher, having never won a fight by decision.

Credeur’s Weaknesses:  He doesn’t have a match for Herman’s strength, physicality, or wrestling.

The Verdict:  Credeur is a terrible style matchup for Herman.  For one thing, Credeur is the much better striker, and for another his ability to work off his back and secure submissions put him in a great position to exploit Herman’s most glaring weakness, his submission defense.  If Credeur can keep this fight standing he will abuse Herman with superior hand speed and accuracy, but that is unlikely.  Herman should be able to secure takedowns, but Credeur is too slick and too effective on the ground to not find an opening in Herman’s porous submission defense.  Credeur by submission.

Fight Prediction:  Tim Credeur by second round Sub.
