TUF 13 Finale – Josh Grispi vs. George Roop Prediction

GEORGE ROOP vs. JOSH GRISPI

Fight Overview:  Two WEC veterans go at it as former top contender Josh “The Fluke” Grispi looks to rebound from his upset loss to Dustin Poirier against skilled journeyman George Roop.  Roop is not always consistent, but he is a skilled fighter with a versatile skill set, so Grispi is going to need to be on point to avoid a second straight upset loss.

Roop’s Strengths:  Roop is fairly well-rounded, and can hold his own standing, on the ground, and with decent wrestling.

Roop’s Weaknesses:  He lacks a dominant skill or the ability to force fights where he wants them to go and he is not a prolific finisher.

Grispi’s Strengths:  Grispi is extremely effective and well rounded, with technical and powerful striking, solid wrestling, and very good submissions.  He is also a very prolific finisher, with only one of his wins coming by decision.

Grispi’s Weaknesses:  He isn’t a dominant wrestler and doesn’t handle adversity particularly well, having been in the driver’s seat in most of the fights in his career.

The Verdict:  Grispi is just on a completely different level from Roop.  He is better standing, he is better on the ground, and Roop doesn’t have any way to force this fight to a favorable position.    Grispi will abuse Roop on the feet, Roop won’t be able to force a ground fight, and eventually Grispi will catch him.  Grispi by T/KO.

Fight Prediction:  Josh Grispi by second round T/KO.
