TUF 13 Finale – Anthony Pettis vs. Clay Guida Prediction

ANTHONY PETTIS vs. CLAY GUIDA

Fight Overview:  Rising WEC star Anthony “Showtime” Pettis finally makes his UFC debut against aggressive wrestler Clay “The Carpenter” Guida.  Pettis is easily the better-rounded and more dynamic of the two, but Guida’s aggressiveness and fast fighting pace make him a tough matchup for anyone.

Guida’s Strengths:  Guida has very good wrestling and amazing cardio which allows him to really push the pace of his fights for the entire duration.Guida’s Strengths:  His striking stinks and his offense is extremely one-dimensional.

Pettis’ Strengths:  Pettis is very well-rounded, with excellent submissions, good wrestling, and knockout power with both hands and both feet.

Pettis’ Weaknesses:  This is the first time he’s had to deal with a guy as relentless and single-minded as Guida, and the first Octagon appearance tends to give guys the jitters.

The Verdict:  Pettis, first-time jitters or not, is too much for Guida.  Guida has absolutely nothing for him on the feet, and Pettis is too good a wrestler to give up telegraphed takedowns to Guida.  Guida is going to get boxed around and have a lot of takedowns stuffed from way out before eventually getting put away.  Pettis by T/KO.
