Fight Overview:  Melvin Guillard steps up to replace the injured Kenny Florian against hot young up and comer Evan Dunham.  Guillard is very physically impressive and has a very dynamic offensive skill set, but Dunham’s wrestling and jiu-jitsu are extremely formidable and are going to present a tough challenge for Guillard’s historically poor submission defense.

Guillard’s Strengths:  Guillard is very explosive and athletic, with solid wrestling, great physical strength, good cardio, and very dangerous standup.

Guillard’s Weaknesses:  His submission defense is notoriously porous and he is prone to wildness during fights.

Dunham’s Strengths:  Dunham is extremely tough and resilient, and can control opponents with superior wrestling and dominant submissions.

Dunham’s Weaknesses:  He will be at a striking disadvantage in terms of both technique and power.

The Verdict:  Dunham is a nightmare opponent for Guillard.  His top-notch wrestling technique is going to make it extremely difficult for Guillard to press his strength advantage, and on the ground Dunham’s jiu-jitsu is going to present a lot of problems for Guillard, who has a very hard time fighting off submissions.  I think Dunham will wear Guillard down physically with wrestling and positional control before eventually securing the win with a submission.
