NICK DIAZ vs. EVANGELISTA SANTOS

Fight Overview:  Diaz looks to defend his Welterweight title against powerful but fragile striker Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos.  Santos is notoriously easy to finish, but he also has a surplus of offensive capability, so this could be a short and violent affair.

Santos’ Strengths:  His striking is devastating at range and from the clinch, and he keeps up a relentless pace that makes it hard for opponents to defend.

Santos’ Weaknesses:  He has a glass jaw, no defense, and no real ground game to speak of.

Diaz’s Strengths:  Diaz has amazing submissions, a great chin, and extremely unorthodox and effective striking that overwhelms opponents with volume and odd angles.

Diaz’s Weaknesses:  He is prone to wildness and brawling.

The Verdict:  Diaz just simply outclasses Santos in every way.  Santos has a ton of power and striking ability, but so does Diaz, who also has a much better chin.  I expect Santos to come rushing forward blindly the entire fight and continually paying for it by eating Diaz counter-punches until he can’t take any more.  Diaz by T/KO.
