UFC 124 – Jim Miller vs. Charles Oliveira Prediction

Fight Overview:  Two talented Lightweight grapplers go at it and try to distance themselves from the increasingly crowded pack.  Oliveira is a hot, undefeated prospect but Miller is the toughest test of his career so far, so this should be a good fight.

Oliveira’s Strengths:  Oliveira has a very good overall ground game, decent boxing, and very effective submissions.

Oliveira’s Weaknesses:  He has faced a relatively low level of competition and Miller is a huge step up.

Miller’s Strengths:  Miller is extremely tough and well-rounded, with good boxing, solid wrestling, and excellent submissions.

Miller’s Weaknesses:  He doesn’t perform well against anyone who can outwrestle him.

The Verdict:  I think Miller is just too much for Oliveira at this stage.  Miller is pretty much just a little better at everything and also a little bit more seasoned.  Most importantly, Miller is the superior wrestler which will allow him to dictate where and how this fight plays out.  He should control most of this fight and earn the unanimous decision nod.
