FORREST GRIFFIN vs. RICH FRANKLIN
Fight Overview: Two popular former champions go at it in the Light Heavyweight division. Both guys have solid boxing and versatile skill sets, so this should be a competitive fight.
Franklin’s Strengths: Franklin has very good boxing with solid punching power, decent wrestling, a good chin, and good submission defense.
Franklin’s Weaknesses: His offensive grappling is not that good and he is not able to dominate any one area in an overwhelming way.
Griffin’s Strengths: Griffin has a solid chin, a ton of heart, good technical kickboxing, and very underrated wrestling and jiu-jitsu.
Griffin’s Weaknesses: He lacks punching power and has a tendency to get reckless early in fights and dig himself a hole he can’t get out of.
The Verdict: Franklin is the more dangerous striker, but Griffin is equally technically proficient and more well-rounded. I think Griffin’s superior size and strength, coupled with his grappling advantage, should be enough to earn him the unanimous decision win.
