UFC 128 – Urijah Faber vs. Eddie Wineland Prediction

URIJAH FABER vs. EDDIE WINELAND

Fight Overview:  Urijah Faber makes his long-awaited UFC debut against Eddie Wineland, one of the toughest and best-rounded fighters in the division.  Both of these guys are experienced and versatile, so this should be a great fight.

Faber’s Strengths:  Faber has great kickboxing, good wrestling, and excellent submissions.

Faber’s Weaknesses:  His chin can be exploited and he has trouble dealing with guys who can outstrike him.

Wineland’s Strengths:  Like Faber, Wineland is very well-rounded and experienced, and can get the job done anywhere a fight goes.

Wineland’s Weaknesses:  The only hole in Wineland’s game is his submission defense.

The Verdict:  I think Faber is just too much for Wineland.  Both guys have very complete games, but I think Faber is going to be a little quicker and a better wrestler, which should make the difference.  Wineland’s submission defense is porous, and Faber’s ability to force the fight to the ground will put him in a position to exploit that.  Faber by submission.
