AARON SIMPSON vs. MARIO MIRANDA

Fight Overview:  Two skilled and well-rounded guys go at it with their roster spots quite likely on the line.  With both guys having lost two of their last 3 in the UFC, a win here is crucial to ensuring their futures with the company.

Miranda’s Strengths:  Miranda is very well rounded, with good submissions, solid wrestling, and effective striking.

Miranda’s Weaknesses:  He is going to be at a disadvantage in the wrestling and is not dominant in any one area.

Simpson’s Strengths:  Simpson has good wrestling, good ground and pound, and aggressive and powerful striking.

Simpson’s Weaknesses:  He is prone to wildness, his submission defense is a question mark, and his chin can be exploited.

The Verdict:  Miranda is tough, but I think this one favors Simpson.  On the feet Simpson is more aggressive and powerful, and his superior wrestling means he will be able to dictate how it plays out on the ground.  Miranda should be able to hang in until the end, but Simpson should be able to control this one well enough to earn a decision.
