Fight Overview: Two of WEC’s top 135 pounders meet again as Damacio Page looks to avenge a loss to former 135 pound champion Brian Bowles. Bowles handled Page easily in their last meeting, but he is coming off a severe injury and a one-year layoff, so if Page can capitalize on the ring rust he could have his revenge.
Page’s Strengths: Page has very explosive striking with good power, a lot of toughness, and very effective submissions.
Page’s Weaknesses: His submission defense has always been porous and he is fighting a guy who handled him with ease last time they fought.
Bowles’ Strengths: Bowles has a stellar ground game with extremely good submissions, and very solid boxing with a lot of knockout power.
Bowles’ Weaknesses: He is coming off a big injury and has been inactive for almost exactly one year.
The Verdict: Bowles and Page are very similar fighters, except that Bowles is smarter, more effective, and just generally better. Layoff or not, this should look pretty much like their first fight, winding up on the mat before Bowles capitalizes on a mistake from Page. Brian Bowles by submission.
