UFC on Versus 3 – Martin Kampmann vs. Diego Sanchez Prediction

DIEGO SANCHEZ vs. MARTIN KAMPMANN

Fight Overview:  Sanchez returns to Welterweight again against one of the division’s top contenders in Martin Kampmann.  Both of these guys are experienced and well-rounded, so this has fight of the night potential.

Sanchez’s Strengths:  Sanchez has good wrestling, submissions, and ground and pound.  He is also in great shape which allows him to keep up a very aggressive pace for the entire duration of a fight.

Sanchez’s Weaknesses:  His boxing is rudimentary at best, and he tends to fight with his chin up.

Kampmann’s Strengths:  Kampmann has very effective and powerful striking, great submissions, and extremely underrated wrestling.

Kampmann’s Weaknesses:  His chin is not the strongest.

The Verdict:  This is not a good matchup for Diego.  He can’t outbox Kampmann by any stretch of the imagination, he probably doesn’t have the better submissions, he’s going to be giving up a lot of size and strength, and it’s possible that Kampmann is even a better wrestler.  Diego is a tough guy who is hard to finish, but Kampmann should control this one easily and earn a unanimous decision.
